Picnics weren't really our thing at first. When Matt and I were putting together our wedding registry, I added a wicker picnic basket on a whim. It had two wine glasses, a corkscrew, a little cutting board, and some floral napkins tucked inside. I didn't think much of it at the time, but that basket ended up changing a lot for us.

We started taking it everywhere. Some nights we sat by the pond near our house and talked for hours. Other nights were movie nights in the car, curled up under a blanket with a projector and a bottle of champagne with my name on it. Those date night picnics became our thing. When our kids came along, the picnics moved to the backyard, and they got a lot messier and a lot louder. None of it was fancy, but those are some of my favorite memories.

After Matt passed away, I came across a post from a woman named Emily who was looking for someone to take over her picnic company. When we talked, she told me she had started it after losing her father. Her mom had told her that experiences meant more to her than any gift ever could, and Emily built the whole business around that idea. I told her I was a new widow with young kids and that picnics had been such a big part of my marriage. By the end of that conversation, it felt like she was handing me something that was meant to be mine.

Barbi and I have been business partners for over ten years in real estate, and she was right there with me through losing Matt. So one day I just told her, "We're relaunching a picnic company. Are you ready for a new adventure?" She said yes without a second thought, which is exactly who she is.

We started with picnics, but it didn't take long for things to grow. Clients started asking us to help with birthdays, showers, and proposals. Then we added tablescaping, event décor, and photo booths. Today we do a little bit of everything, but the reason behind it hasn't changed. We want to help people turn ordinary moments into memories, because in the end, that's really all we have.

That old basket still sits in my house. It reminds me where all of this started.
